Guestbook

I no longer have a functional Guestbook (as of appx 20 Sep 2005). I can't figure out why it doesn't work (it doesn't report any errors). I've spent numerous hours troubleshooting the P.O.S. and I'm stumped. All the pieces are in place, all the permissions appear to be correct, all the variables are right, but the script just won't write to the guestbook page. I can't figure it out. I'm leaving the page up, in case you wanted to read some of the previous entries, but you won't be able to add your own comments.

This guestbook is currently a magnet for spammers, hackers and other forms of low-life. They scan my site for the cgi-bin behind this web page. They're looking for ways into the underbelly of my website, ways to hack my web hosts servers, ways to spam, attack and destroy my purity of essence. They don't get very far; I've disabled the guts behind this form.

Wrote... Rob and Kim-- Hey, remember me? The former Izzy partner! I am glad to see that all is going well for you and Kim. Tell Kim hello from me, ok? I was selected to be the First Sergeant for the 182nd Logistics Squadron here in Peoria back in August. So, I got promoted to MSgt and now await the academy in January. Good to say that I did not totally abandon my military career, and retirement seems not too far away anymore. On the full time side, I work for that program I think I told you about before for at-risk youth. I am still here and I have been the Human Resource Manager for close to 4 years now. The kids seem to get rougher around the edges as time goes on. The program is coming up on being here for 10 years. Lots of students have walked in and out these doors. I have been here a total of almost 8 years now. Hard to believe I have stuck it out that long. The kids are doing well in school. Ashley is 12 and in the 6th grade, and Courtney is 10 and in the 5th grade.

Wrote... I followed a Google.com link to get here. I was looking up information on joint pain associated with weather prediction. I noticed that you wanted to know if anyone else out here can predict weather by pain, I'm one of them. My knees hurt so bad it's hard to walk sometimes. I've actually predicted a storm 3 days away (my knees started aching a bit at first, then I could barely walk by the 3rd day). Anyway, I appreciate you providing links for us to other sites relating to this. Thanks.

As I've written to you before, I really enjoyed your web pages and am only sorry I didn't know what a fascinating writer you were back then. I love your anti-establishment items.
