Summary: Robert & Kim were stationed in Sugar Grove West Virginia from 1995-1998. While we were there, we went White Water Rafting on the New River (more than once). During one of our trips (in Aug, of 1997), the company we rafter with (Songer Whitewater) video taped the trip. Kim’s parents were with us during the trip (Kary, Sharon, Ted, Kim and myself) rafted the New River - Class V rapids. This was the trip where ‘Senator Khadethafhanaghyn from the planet Ritz Cracker’ had his tragic accident’. Robert injured his face/eye at Jumpers rock. We finished the rafting trip, but Robert’s injuries were severe, requiring surgery and numerous months of recovery.

Collection ID 577
Director: Jonathan Lynn
Starring: Bruce Willis, Matthew Perry, Rosanna Arquette, Michael Clarke Duncan, Natasha Henstridge
Genre: Drama
Studio: Warner Home Video   Release date: 2000   Rated: R
Language (Country): English, German (Canada)
Summary: The Whole Nine Yards is a likable comedy, that benefits from both a carefree performance by Bruce Willis and his fine chemistry with Matthew Perry. When hit man Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski (Willis) moves into a comfy suburb, the quiet neighborhood, is turned upside down. Mild mannered dentist Nick Oseransky (Perry) and his wife Sophie (Rosanna Arquette) are beside themselves, when suspicious folks start showing up next door to visit. It seems Jimmy's arrival sparks a chain reaction in which just about everybody wants to "off" someone else. Directed by Jonathan Lynn, who also helmed the madcap Clue and My Cousin Vinny, certainly knows what works here. Willis has fun playing off of his tough guy persona. Perry does a good job as a nebbish do well, who's out of his league. Another gem in the film is Kevin Pollak who plays a mob boss. The film does have a few minor problems, like too many charaters to keep track of, but the fun of it all, negates any of that stuff. The extras on the DVD include a fine audio commentary from director Lynn, fairly standard cast and crew video based interviews, and a funny only once gag reel. Viewers can choose to either see the film in full-screen or widescreen formats. The movie has some solid laughs. It's worth a look. After seeing the film, I can also say that I plan to check out its sequel The Whole Ten Yards as well.
My Rating:
My Review: A splendid comedy. The two leads, Mathew Perry and Bruce Willis, work well against each other. Mathew Perry does an excellent job as the neurotic dentist who gets caught up in this hit-man drama. Bruce Willis plays a surprisingly well done role as a calm and collected hit-man. This movie had me laughing many times. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it so much that I added it to my must buy list. Lots of plot twists, very funny movie, with some well done writting. The sound mixing in this movie was so bad, I had to turn on the English subtitles in order to follow the lines. Why do producers and directors insist on tortuing us! We want to hear the lines! I don't care if they're at an airport, I don't care if they're standing beside a cement truck. The cement truck isn't critical to the plot! This one gets a 4 out of 5, it would have got a 5 if it wasn't for the half sound production!

Director: Sam Peckinpah
Starring: William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan, Edmond O'Brien, Warren Oates
Genre: Action
Studio: Warner Brothers/Seven Arts   Release date: 1969   Rated: R
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: An aging group of outlaws look for one last big score as the "traditional" American West is disappearing around them.
My Rating:
My Review: Written (in part) and directed by Sam Peckinpah (Ride the High Country, Straw Dogs, Cross of Iron). Starring William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan, Warren Oates and many others. It's a large cast, cinematic extravaganza of the old west. A group of aging outlaws on the verge of extinction plan and execute a bloody, ambitious, train heist turned, arms deal, turned bank heist. These men are unscrupulous outlaws with a shaky code of morals. Pursued by bounty hunters and the Mexican army, the picture isn't romantic or pretty. It's a gritty fairy-tale of the true-west. Ideals meet reality in this saga of men who live by their own code. Excellent cinematography, acting and direction provide fuel for this outstanding story which roams across the US/Mexican border like a thuderstorm of greed, cynicism and personal vendetta - Despite the vile nature of this Wild Bunch, they somehow come off as heroes in this uncompromising tale of the wild west. The ending is a blood-bath of epic proportions. It easily earns a 5 out of 5 • The Wild Bunch - 1969 (Action, Adventure, Western, Crime) Written (in part) and directed by Sam Peckinpah (Ride the High Country, Straw Dogs, Cross of Iron).
